VR ( Vapor Retarder) is preferred over unfaced for moisture control, durability, and effectiveness in specific environments.

*Unfaced Might Be Better* 

* If adding over existing insulation (you don’t want two vapor barriers).
* Where a separate vapor barrier (like plastic sheeting) will be installed.
* In spaces that need more breathability to avoid trapped moisture.
